New Biography out from Basic Books from nuclear, particle physicist Dr. Frank Close, examines the life, times and fateful contradictions of Bruno Pontecorvo.
Born into a wealthy Jewish Italian family in Pisa, Italy, he would soon find his way to Enrico Fermi's lab where he would consort with indigenous anarchist's and Italian Communists before landing in Oklahoma to develop a technique of fielding neutron atoms to procure possible sites for oil. His life on the outside looked beyond belief, on the inside though, he simmered with guilt and political confusion.
He died in 1993, having abandoned his lovely wife and children in 1953 to serve 'Mother Russia' his true ideological love.
